So, looking through the draft programme for Orbital, the 2008 Eastercon, I spot an item on Saturday afternoon simply entitled "Chris and James present." Yes, it's [livejournal.com profile] johnnyeponymous and [livejournal.com profile] jamesb.

And, as if that wasn't enough to get you worried, the break-out room that they are using is 'Closed for set-up' for half an hour beforehand.

Be afraid. Be very afraid...

Why worry? What could we possibly come up with...

Oboy. Makes me wish I wasn't going to be at Norwescon doing Match Game SF. Indeed, with you at Eastercon, I'd have one more regular panelist than I'm going to have at Seattle, and I could probably have reworked the graphics into Blankity Blank and we'd be good to go. I could even afford the airfare, thanks to the $800 voucher I got from getting bumped coming back from Japan last September.

Ho, Chris! Please don't break UK fandom; they're needed for future fiendish smoffish plots, you know.

You'd need to decide which of the three hosts you were chanelling - Terry Wogan, Les Dawson or Lily Savage.

Chris, of course, gets to keep his middle bottom seat, always associated in the UK version with Kenny Everett.

Plus, no need to worry about 'lovely parting gifts' - although, ironically, the much-derided 'Blankety-Blank cheque book and pen' are valued collectables these days, going for up to $70 on ebay.

Probably Wogan, because he's closest to Gene Rayburn, and my personal style is closest to him. (My view of things is that it's my job to play straight man to a panel full of lunatics.) Savage would be fun, but I've gained too much weight to fit into any of my dresses.

And while I wouldn't be able to come up with the now-surprisingly-valuable gift, I actually do have "lovely party gifts" in the form of a ribbon imprinted thusly. And given how few contestants we actually put through in a given evening, this is a pretty rare ribbon. Heck, even I don't get one of those!

What, me worry?

I would come up with a list, but (however unlikely) it might include something you hadn't actually thought of between the two of you. And then I'd never forgive myself...
