The buzz on teh interwebs is "rumours of an Eastercon bid for 2011 at Novacon." Well, given that the flyers are up on many walls, I would say that Illustrious is a bit more than just a rumour. Many of the names on the flyer are reassuringly familiar, including Chris O'Shea and both Dowds.

I thought Dave was against his full name being used in fannish circles. I didn't even remember his surname!

You are right and wrong, he doesn't want his real name being used against his nickname because he doesn't want them linked too easily, but he insisted his real name be used on the committee as he feels that it's important to be seen to be identifiable and responsible for such a position.

And now you've replied to that entry, I can't edit it, so I'll have to delete and re-enter it.

Thanks Chris. I intend to be vocal on LJ, so it'll be clear who I am to those who use LJ hopefully.

What I'm trying to avoid as far as possible is Google returning meaningful results on a handle / rename combination. Ironically the one place that does return that is my old site. I've put it in the robots.txt a while ago, but since it's not been updated for years, Google doesn't seem to have de-cached it yet.

Indeed.

The full committee (if I can remember the list) is:
Chris O'Shea
Nik Whitehead
John Dowd
Fran Dowd
Hayley Fazzani
Dave Mansfield
John Harold

And the site is the Hilton Metropole, NEC Birmingham.
Programme will include all the usual stuff, plus items built around the themes of Military SF and a historical review of SF through the decades.
