For the first time in my 30+ years of using this credit card, I ended up having to raise a dispute on a transaction. A hotel website initially refused my payment, but took it second time around. However, both the original and second charge ended up showing on my statement.

I got back to my card issuer, who sent me a nice automated email saying “Thank you for contacting us about your payment dispute Mr. We have added a credit to your account which should show on your statement within 3 working days. The Merchant has Sullivan days to challenge this. If they do, we have a further dispute days to resolve the matter, so it is important for you to respond if we contact you so we can help. In the meantime, please pay at least the minimum payment on your statement.”

Clearly “Sullivan days” is now a standard international unit of measurement. Probably equal to 0.37 parsecs or something…
