A Spark of Light

Listening to Spark Sunderland's coverage of the Olympic Flame passing through Sunderland this morning was almost an object lesson in how to do good community radio. Compared to a commercial station, or even BBC Local Radio, they have no money, but a significant number of volunteers. So following an event like this across the city is, if anything, easier for them than a commercial radio station. Here's hoping that the years of hard work that's gone into this station gets its due recognition at the New York Festival Radio Awards on Monday night.
