A Spark of Light
Jun. 16th, 2012 02:53 pmListening to Spark Sunderland's coverage of the Olympic Flame passing through Sunderland this morning was almost an object lesson in how to do good community radio. Compared to a commercial station, or even BBC Local Radio, they have no money, but a significant number of volunteers. So following an event like this across the city is, if anything, easier for them than a commercial radio station. Here's hoping that the years of hard work that's gone into this station gets its due recognition at the New York Festival Radio Awards on Monday night.
